Daniel's Dilemma : A Freewrite
As Daniel's field of vision faded, he experienced an unusual sensation come over him. He seemingly drifted in an inexhaustible torrent of effervescence. Hues that he had never viewed before encircled him, and arcane, spectral voices murmured in his ears. He was unable to make sense of the words, but they reverberated intensely within him, resonating through his entirety.
Time became meaningless for Daniel as he meandered through this bewildering realm. All of a sudden, the feeling vanished, and he was swallowed by the blackness.
When he stirred, he no longer occupied the joyous park. Instead, he found himself in a featureless white space, illuminated harshly by fluorescent lighting. Incessant buzzing and humming surrounded him, and he could hear the regular thumping of his own pulse. Unease and fright overwhelmed him as he endeavoured to grasp what had transpired.
There was no answer.
As Daniel gradually rose from his hospital bed, he recalled the fit and the peculiar, out of the ordinary circumstance. Yet, as he glanced about the area, he observed something incredible. He could detect the entire thing—the faint noise of nurses conversing at the station, the faint murmur of a TV from a room near his, and even the slight fluttering of a magazine from the waiting sector in the foyer.
It was as if his auditory acuity had been amplified, granting him the capacity to perceive even minutest sounds from great distances. He concentrated earnestly, concentrating on the nurse at the nurses' station.
