VAMPIRE BAT
VAMPIRE BAT.
Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking as to the direction my sketches should be taking and how often I should post. I realized I haven't been doing sophisticated things or wild imagery as I had envisioned when first I started blogging.
For my first shift, I decided drawing something like a Dracula themed character would be best but then as at the time I didn't consider the layers it would take to properly bring out the beauty of the character.
I tried using scribbles and some curvy and straight lines to fill in gaps but they weren't properly covering all the aspects of the Bats body so I had to shift to ths various forms of hatching. The plan was to keep it neat and precise (the hatching) but I noticed it was taking longer to cover anything so I just went with the flow and shaded everything.
I drew the lineart first with my signature blue pen using the card as a reference and a bird who was captured with a side view. I don't know the name of the bird really but it looked like and eagle with no semblance of a bat and that is why to some extent I paid a lot of attention to the lineart
...then I drew the head with black and the eyes with red.
added the ear which was a mix of black and red and reaffirmed the face or head with little blood dripping down his fang..
I drew the first wing with a black pen because I believe it to be the best option I had and immediately started filling in some parts of the body just to see how well it would look..
I didn't want to but I realized that I had to shade the wings so I wouldn't be drawing out of proportion...
I shaded it more and wanted to add black but felt it looked better this way..
then I went back to the body and filled it up with different form of hatching. I also made sure to map out the legs before I started so I won't be drawing out of the plan
At this point all that was left was filling and I did just that. I made sure to fill as many parts as possible
and this part just touched up what was left by the other hence the finished work
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
Keep up the good work. 👏
