QUILLIUN LEGIONARY
It's the weekend and on this end I am having a wonderful time. I learnt yesterday was thanksgiving but we don't celebrate it around here still I'm grateful for the life I live and for the grace to be alive to witness the end of the year. I am also grateful to each and everyone of you who made my stay on this blog meaningful especially the #splinterlands universe. I honestly can't express how much I value the opportunity to groom and skill and still earn. Lastly I will like to say a big thank you to the alien art community, you've been wonderful all this while and I am grateful for and to you. I hope I am able to do more in the coming weeks and year.
Today I know I am a bit late with my entry , there were just so many things to attend to. I mentioned in an earlier post that I just moved to a new place and settling has not been easy both physically and financially. There was a very comical drawing I came upon and decided to shape it into the image of the Quilliun Legionary. Just picturing it in my head was fun so I tried it out. Just keep scrolling, I will walk you through it..
Using my signature style (my blue pen) I drew the lineart. First I took into account the shape of the references' head then I added the spikes ain such a way that they would fit. I had hoped the alignment would be precise but over the periods it wasn't. It was close though.
I traced the face using my senses and cognition to get an accurate depiction of the face, something more concrete than the lineart. I use the black pen intentionally for this so in case the measurements were wrong as it was in the case I would be able to see the difference clearly.
The spikes on his back and the spear followed swiftly. I tried juxtaposing the spikes on the car character and that which I laid out earlier as noticed there was a rhythm to the original card spike. Over the span of its back, the spikes grew. After noticing this, I tried imitating it still using my black pen.
the next step involved painting the past that needed some red, red. I did accordingly first to his eyeball and then his spike. I tried leveraging the pressure on my pen to create a kindof light/dark texture, a sort of smooth gradation which I noticed was in the card.
And for the final process, I shared the parts that needed shading and touched spots that needed fixing.
The materials I used while making this sketch are blue, black and red pens from two brands: BIC and SCHNEIDER
