One thing that I don't like is that Elon bought Twitter advocating for "Free Speech" but isn't this Paid Free speech? $100 a year is a lot of money to some people and now those people will have their speech pushed down via an algorithm because they can't afford to pay for their speech.

Well, more to the point, Elon was FORCED to buy twitter - he didn't want to do so - and note, paying for verification is, imho, a better idea than not. However, you can still use twitter without paying for it.
It isn't, because you aren't required to be verified to use the platform.
