The consequences of the disclosures caused a state of turmoil for Wale, Lola, and their confederates. The country had been tremendously shocked, and the political environment had been drastically changed. The politician, once an intimidating force, was now an outcast, his goals in disarray. Nonetheless, as the confusion dissipated, a dampening realisation started to set in—the struggle for fairness had a severe cost.

The downfall of the politician brought to light a web of deceit that pervaded the core of the government. People called for justice, sparking probes to look into the revelation of misconduct. Individuals who had once felt invincible after showing loyalty to the politician were held accountable under the law, and the country watched as those of stature crumbled.

However, effecting justice had its struggles. Those with vested interests in the previous order did not go peaceably. They combatted against the reforms, exhibiting every bit of influence they still had to raise the suspicion of investigations, weave fictions of being colludingly wronged and tweak public outlook. The confrontation between right and wrong persisted in the courtrooms and press as the privileged employed every tactic they could to evade the repercussions of their acts.

Wale and Lola encountered difficulty on several different fronts. Allegations were leveled against them, alleging their involvement in a huge conspiracy. They were also the victims of campaigns to discredit their reputations, and were subjected to relentless examination. Every activity of theirs was intensely investigated by those wishing to malign them.
