Eragon, Chapters 41-44
Durza the Shade
Chapters read:
Fighting Shadows
A Warrior and a Healer
Water From Sand
The Ramr River
These were interesting chapters for sure, it feels like Eragon's own story is forming now. Less learning, more doing and experiencing.
The interactions with the Shade have been excellent and the escape from his imprisonment was very cool. Saphira showing her strength was impressive.
It's interesting, considering how Inheritance ends, to learn how Eragon was basically going to, at the very least temporarily, kind of run away from the Empire in general.
Overall these chapters feel aimless and I really sympathize with Eragon and Saphira. They were just born into this, Saphira much more severely. All of this responsibility thrust upon them. The duo have no idea where to turn or who to trust.
It feels like Eragon is simply doing his best at this point, like he's putting on a brave face.
A lot of just running from the Empire and surviving at this point. Eragon clearly has a big crush on the elf who I am ninety-nine percent sure is Arya but at this point I've been surprised at how much I have forgotten and so I could be wrong. Either way it is intriguing to see how everyone is in awe of her. I find myself wanting to learn about the elves all over again. I'm certain I've forgotten a ton.
I'm well past the half-way mark of the book, still plenty to read though!
I love living in the world of Alagaesia.
