Eldest, Chapters 53-56
Chapters read:
- An Unexpected Ally
- Escape
- Child's Play
- Premonition of War
These chapters Jeod drops a BOMB on Roran that his cousin is a Rider! Man I was AMPED. Just so exciting to experience Roran learning this massive piece of information. The story is seriously developing now. Roran laughing like a maniac is also just the perfect reaction to hearing it. Such a fun moment to read. I can only imagine how much Roran's mind must have raced. What a ridiculous couple of weeks this guy has been through. The man can't catch a break.
Jeod and Roran agree to basically team up and escape the Empire which is also amazing and exciting. I like Jeod. He seems wise and useful. They stole a MASSIVE ship that Galbatorix himself essentially owns in a whole elaborate plan. The entire town of Carvahall manage to get on it. Unbelievable stuff man. I admittedly found all the ship terminology a bit annoying since I don't know a THING about boats. I had to stop and Google like ten different words at least.
Apparently, Galbatorix is preparing a mega invasion into Surda which is wild. I can sense the anxiety and tension throughout everybody. I don't think I had the awareness when I first read it, I also have the advantage of reading it in the first place, but this time I can see the fog of war is steadily becoming thicker and thicker. Really as soon as Saphira hatched, so many things were set in motion. But recent events like Nasuada almost being assasinated, the Varden moving to Surda, Nasuada's clever idea to fund the war with lace, Carvahall causing ruckus, and the Empire's army moving into Surda like I said, the suspense is just killing me. Nasuada entertaining the idea to potentially simply run away from the Empire and sail across the sea intrigued me. I love when the story sort of mentions the idea of other lands in Eragon's world. Makes everything so mysterious. I wonder how the world works outside the Empire/Alagaesia.
I don't even want to write this post, I just want to hop back into the story. But it is very fun to sort of document my enthusiasm and share my thoughts on these epic books as I go.
I still don't remember exactly how Eldest finishes, I am PUMPED!!!
