Eldest, Chapters 45-48
Chapters read:
- The Hammer Falls
- The Beginning of Wisdom
- Broken Egg and Scattered Nest
- The Gift of Dragons
In these chapters I once again am sort of enjoying Roran's perspective slightly more than Eragon's. Roran's plan to evacuate the town to Surda is going pretty stinking well. Roran is turning into a seriously tough man that few want to upset. His focus just cannot be disturbed.
Eragon seems to have chosen to become a vegetarian due to his meditations with Oromis. He REALLY seems to adopt practically everything the elves do. I guess he's still young and impressionable. I personally could NEVER become a vegetarian. I love juicy burgers and crispy fried chicken way too much. I agree with Saphira on this topic even though I may not be a dragon. Everything has it's place in the world, as Saphira says.
I found the elves' Agaeti Blodhren celebration cool, but also a bit odd. The elves seem sort of strange reading these books this time around. The whole celebration was just a bunch of people walking around feeling aloof but peaceful. The dragon gifting Eragon by healing him and transforming him a bit was pretty epic though I will admit. What an honor! Dragons are undeniably the coolest in general.
But yeah, these were some interesting chapters. I think the ending is going to be EPIC. Can't wait to keep on trucking along.
