SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Chapters Read: 11-15

Well now, these were pretty humbling chapters. I very much enjoyed them, but there's also somewhat humbling aspects to this.

I don't necessarily have a defined structure to these, and so I'm just going to get to what's on my mind straight away.

I don't necessarily vibe with the philosophy of this series at times. I have to be honest man. When I was younger, I did sort of agree with the wholesome anti-war, pro unity vibe it speaks on.

I mean nobody wants war, that's pretty obvious though. Getting along with people, is pretty ideal as well. But I don't know, at times it's just sort of simplistic the way the story portrays life decisions and circumstances.

Praising Kurda as much as the series does, is rather odd. Peace is clearly always preferred, but I don't know, life is never that simple. In a roundabout way, I think demanding and assuming peace is always a must, feels oddly arrogant and oddly controlling. It almost suggests that no matter any injustice, no matter what unfairness is thrust upon people, just suck it up and avoid conflict. There's something flawed there.

Also, Evanna having kids with both Vancha and Gannen, is straight up weird to me. To appease both races in a way? Suggesting it's going to be superior because of the mixing and her own magic? What? On a fundamental level, that's kinda gross. It also promotes this globalist agenda which, I'm gonna be honest, I don't vibe with.

It all sends a very strange message to me. I don't really like it. The story disguises this as wisdom, and well, I just find it pretty shallow.

It's unfortunate man. I love the series and always will. I'm open to the extremely slim possibility my opinion will change in the future but, I doubt it.

It's a very odd feeling, openly criticizing a series I've loved for so long. The whole series is still very entertaining and there's a lot of reasons I love it but, if this was the message it was trying to get across the whole time, then yikes. Just depressing.

The fight between Steve and Darren was exciting though. And the ending when Darren forces Steve's hand to kill him, therefore ensuring they both die and prevent the rise of the Lord of the Shadows, was still wild.

I mean, the whole theme/idea that you should always try to make your own choice and control your destiny is something I can appreciate.

But yeah, I'm not gonna lie, this left me feeling a bit sad.

Oh well, almost done now! Let's see how it finishes up.
