"Brisingr" - Chapters 49-52 - My Thoughts

MANY Spoilers

Chapters Read:

  • Hands of a Warrior
  • The Tree of Life
  • Mind over Metal
  • A Rider in Full

Well, as I begin writing on these chapters, I realize Brisingr is nearing it's end. Pretty nuts. Who knows how many more times in life I'll have the time or opportunity to read Brisingr? I perhaps could read it over and over again but that seems a bit silly as well. I'm sure the time will come that I will read it again. Perhaps several more times. But nothing in life is guaranteed.

These chapters have taken on a new life it seems. The personality has shifted greatly. It's like Eragon and Roran and everyone are like floating through various events in general. I'm sure I also feel this way because I can literally feel the end of the book approaching in my hands.

Time feels a bit more precious and urgent, but even as the reader I am aware of this, Eragon and Saphira as characters are definitely not quite as aware. Well, they know battles approach and the war does proceed swiftly, I don't get the sense that they fully understand. Maybe that's just me though.

The Tree of Life was pretty epic in so many ways. I've always been fascinated by trees in general.

The construction of Brisingr again I thought happens in Inheritance! Inheritance is my favorite in the series or so I thought, but now I'm wondering what even happens in Inheritance. I did only read Inheritance once.... Hmmm.

I also kinda forgot the sword's name was Brisingr! Unbelievable!

The whole construction of this sword are scenes worth remembering in a big big way. It's a bit of fantasy I've never really experienced. I have read a fair amount of books, just not as much in the past decade or so. So yeah. The construction and the process felt so crucial and fun and interesting. It did indeed feel like a critical phase of Eragon's transformation into a Rider.

Indeed, these chapters and everything feel so amazingly mysterious and whimsical. It feels like the depth Alagaësia has become greater in this final third of the book.

There's only six more chapters I believe, so I'll likely create two posts here before moving onto Inheritance. I literally can't remember how these final chapters go down besides some major events.

Let's go!
