Pokemon 007: Squirtle

This is how I drew Squirtle using a pen, a fine pen.

This is the process of how I drew Squirtle, one of the 3 start pokemons in Generation 1.

Process

I mainly work with paper size A7... it is just easier

I always start with getting the head shape of the character first, and it will then serve as the indicator of where to place the rest of the body...

After the position of the head is established I can then start to draw the shell and hands. The head become the anchor.

Squirtle is relatively easy to draw thereafter, they have a simple design, once the head and shell is complete it is just completing the remaining parts and shading a bit.
