How to Draw Charmeleon Pokemon 5 - Hail (Youtube timelapse + Step by Step guide)

This is how I drew Charmeleon using a pen, a fine pen.
Charmeleon is number 5 on the Pokedex

This is the youtube video that shows the timelapse process of how the drawing was created. Charmeleon took a bit longer to draw than Charmander, but still managed to complete it around 5 minutes

Process

The paper is size A7

As mentioned before on other posts. I start with the head of Charmeleon. I am used to start with drawing the head, as it creates a great positional start and allows me to continue drawing the other parts of Charmeleon

After the position of the head is complete, I can then work out the size of the body, the hands and legs. I am a bit more comfortable with the proportions on this drawing. The downside is that me lines werent precise. you can see that I had to redraw some parts and some lines are not even connected properly...

This is a pen drawing, so it is difficult to add in shadows with different tones, hence I have to express it with lines and the closer the lines the darker the shadow... I am still working on a way to express this...

I hesitated adding that shadow lines around the mouth, as it turned out badly... it looks like Charmeleon has a beard as opposed to a shadow... I will need to work on some way to add in the shadow a bit better... maybe it would have been better to just leave out the shadow or to fill in the parts completely...
