Speaking of my Nickname

While I was younger, I was not the social type so I didn't bother thinking of any nickname when others were, as at then I didn't see the need for a nickname I just wanted to be simple or should I say I was being unsocial, ya what ever you would want to call the situation is left to you.

At first I saw my mates deriving their nicknames from the abbreviation of their names and surname but I checked mine and no no no no it didn't fit at all, it was so weird 😡😕🥺, I had to forget about it because it was not necessary as at then but subsequently I got exposed and derived one for myself.

How It Came About

As you all.know me, I'm a big fan of the music world and I've explore different aspect of music, I've gone through a series of voice training and I've also gone for instrument training and about the instrument training, I must say it was like a part of me right from while I was kid, I certainly knew it was a part of me but I didn't take it serious because I was just a kid that didn't have direction on what to do about it.

When I began to develop intrest in learning drums, I made researches and learnt many things, along the line I discovered that for instrumentalists, there were suffix they added to their names to indicate the instrument they played such as;

  • For the keyboardist they added KEYS to their name so if I were to be a keyboardist I would be called Chidikeys, hehehe 😆😆, it doesn't make sense for me I don't know if it makes sense for you but that doesn't means I never intended in learning keyboard, I would also love to explore that but at the right time.

  • For guitarist they added STRINGS to their name, still testing on my name and it doesn't look spicy for me hehehe, just kidding, of I wanted to use it on my name I would look for a better way to make it more unique than just Chidistrings.

There are many other instrument with their suffix for nicknames like SAX that's for saxophonist.

Coming down to my instrument (DRUMS), STICKS is the suffix for a drummer's nickname and I felt CHIDISTICKZ would be a perfect name though it was not at first Chidistickz, it was Chidisticks but while I was being registered into HIVE, we got hocked up at some point so I had to change the nickname by substituting Z for S, all thanks to @hivedeb for giving me the nickname I now love.

Intonation

I don't really know why many people add tunes while calling my name expecially my mum, its somehow frustrating, it's always that they are putting a rising tune atbthe middle of the name for instance chiDIstickz, the capitalized words are the ones that are mal-pronounsed hehehehe 😂😂😂, don't mind me oh it's just that it makes the name to look like a native name of which it's not, had it been that they were paying me for spoiling my name, I wouldn't mind even if they put the STICKZ before the CHIDI it won't even bother me, but anyways it's not something that is so serious, it's just a nickname.

Well, glad you finally have a nickname after not having any in your childhood. Also, your nick compliments you well as it shows what you do and that's a plus for you

Hahaha I'm still learning oh Sha but what I know about good drummers is that they know how to manage time and some other basic things of music, and sure I'm working on it
Some people just want to play drums without knowing the foundational stuffs of drums which is not good at all
