UFC 305 Goes Down Tonight!
UFC 305 takes place in just a few hours in Perth, Australia and it is going to be awesome! The card overall is slightly underwhelming in terms of pure star power but, it is still an intriguing card as a whole. The main even is truly the crowning jewel in this one, and it is quite juicy. Sometimes a card with the main event doing the heavier lifting feels like a mix of a random fight night and the excitement of a true pay-per-view. Best of both worlds sort of thing.
There's definitely some sleepers though!
Li Jingliang and Carlos Prates should be a fun welterweight fight. Not much else to say really.
Tai Tuivasa and Jairzinho Rozenstruik fight in a heavyweight bout. This one is one hundred percent going to end with someone getting knocked out. It's a toss up who though. I think Tai gets a long overdue win here though. Tai is fairly younger and feels too explosive. Not sure if Rozenstruik will be able to keep up, who knows though. Tai's chances are better too since I doubt Jairzinho will grapple.
Mateusz Gamrot fights arguably his biggest fight overall as he fights legend Dan Hooker in Dan's home country. Matuesz can grapple extremely well which is generally bad news bears for Dan. Dan is solid at grappling but, it does not usually give Dan his best chance to win. Mateusz can make a statement with three extremely impressive wins with vctories over Fiziev, Dos Anjos, and potentially Hooker. That's undeniably an impressive three wins if accomplished. Dan can randomly get a massive win over the number five ranked guy in the lightweight division. Would be huge for Dan. Also, notably, Dan has randomly gotten a ton of Tattoos when he was virtually tatooless forever. Dan's lore only deepens now. Mateusz probably wins though. Dan could win mostly due to a favorable matchup. Dan is very long and tall which could be beneficial for Dan.
Kai-Kara France and Steve Erceg fight in a New Zealand (France) vs Australia (Erceg) men's flyweight bout. These two are at the highest level of their divisions this fight could certainly lead to a title fight. I think Erceg wins bout I really couldn't tell you why.
The main event is what makes this card extremely exciting. Israel Adesanya attempts to re-claim his once long held middleweight championship from former hark horse contender turned straight up champion Dricus Du Plessis. Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya just sounds like a boss fight.
These fighters REALLY don't like each other. They have spoken pretty deeply on many topics and yeah it's clear they both want to get in the cage ASAP. To explain the entire history would take forever and surely there are details even I missed. They have both crossed the line many times. Culture, heritage, all the hot topics.
Typically an active fighter, Izzy has not fought in nearly a full year when he lost to Sean Strickland last September. Izzy is already a Hall of Famer. If he were to re-claim this title at this point of his storied career, it would be undeniably very impressive. I worry where Izzy is at mentally. He seems intense and some say he's focused I worry he's overcompensating perhaps we shall see.
Dricus Du Plessis has proven doubter after doubter wrong time and time again. He has quickly become champion and has never lost a single fight in the UFC. He is built like a tank and just seems to be a winner. Hard to deny his techniques in general. I'm intrigued by him. This is a massive fight for him. He is already champion but if he were to pull this off, beat a well rested determined Izzy, Du Plessis would be on his way to big boy status. It's kind of crazy.
I think Izzy will actually win this. He is just so proven, I've seen him win so many times. He is well rested.
I think this will be a war and if it is, it could be nuts. Too much heat behind this one and Dricus is a pretty active aggressive fighter.
LET'S GO enjoy everyone.
Izzy just got DDPed hahaah
FACTS lol great performance by DDP, dude is a beast, Izzy may be exposed now lol possibly washed
Yeah great performance by DDP! Izzy was landing better Strikes. I'm surprised Izzy didn't retire tbh.
It's a long way to crawl back up for him now
Yes Izzy landed strikes, just nothing enough to really put DDP out. DDP is pretty much the Volkanovski of 185 right now. Izzy has a slight hole in his game exposing he is not as well rounded as he should be maybe. Yeah but I guess there's a lot of fun matchups if Izzy does want to hang around.
