This is a pretty special post! Hopefully this is the first of many times I write about Cam Ward. If that's the case, that means Cam Ward is THE franchise QB the Titans have been searching for. If all goes well, I may be writing about Cam Ward leading the Titans to victories until I'm a much older man! That's really crazy thing to think about actually.

Yes, the Titans really didn't shock anyone by drafting Cam Ward, QB out of the University of Miami. The Titans really need a QB and Ward was seen to be the best in this year's class. Many say Ward is sort of benefiting from 2025 being a weak QB class. At the same time, I also get the vibe that Ward is still overall a strong prospect that shouldn't be overlooked. QB may be a highly desired position but getting drafted first overall still says a lot!

Watching highlights of Cam Ward, his composure really pops off the screen. Ward has a robust football background, playing five years of college football. Ward started at Incarnate Word for two seasons, transferred to Washington State for two seasons, and then played 2024-25 at Miami. I think all of this experience helps Ward stay so composed on the field.

Cam Ward looks like your typical modern QB. He has a very much Caleb Williams, Aaron Rodgers, Pat Mahomes type of skillset and feel in the pocket. Caleb is still unproven as an NFL QB for the most part but oh well LOL. It's anyone's guess how high level Ward will be in the coming few years compared to those guys but I think it's safe to say he has similar capabilities.

Some have even compared Cam Ward to former great Titans QB Steve McNair and I have to say, I think I see it. I don't think it's just Titans fans being excited. Ward is practically the exact same size as McNair was at 6'2", 220 pounds. It's not even an on paper similarity either in my opinion. Ward literally looks built the same as McNair was, same type of thickness. They have a similar light bounce in the pocket and similar mobility/movements in general, even their throwing motions don't look far off!

I don't want to get ahead of myself but yeah, I'm excited for the future! This could be the start of a decade and a half of good times! Franchise legend Warren Moon even decided to allow Cam Ward to wear his retired #1! That says A LOT.

I'm throwing around a lot of names and even Titans greats, but that sort of describes what Cam Ward is hopefully capable of! Ward started as a zero star recruit and transformed himself into a well decorated number one overall pick. He seems humble and respectful yet sharply, easily confident.

The journey has just begun with Ward as a Titan but I am so excited to see how he handles this opportunity! He checks all the boxes, and seems to be a field general! The Titans have HOPE!

The Titans had quite a busy draft in general. Including Cam Ward, the Titans selected NINE players in total. Here are those players.

Round 2, #52 Overall - OLB/Edge Oluwafemi Oladejo / UCLA
  • With Harold Landry III no longer on the roster, Oladejo will hopefully prove to be a great replacement in time! Oladejo also played college ball at Cal. He also stood out at the Senior Bowl.
Round 3, #82 Overall - Safety Kevin Winston Jr. / Penn State
  • If you can't get Abdul Carter, may as well see what else Penn State has to offer! I've heard several times that Kevin Winston Jr. was a great value pick for the Titans. Apparently, injury is what dropped Winston Jr. this far in the draft and when it comes to a third round draft pick, that's an ideal type of selection.
Round 4, #103 Overall - WR Chimere Dike / Florida
  • When I watch Chimere, I feel like he has potential to be an absolute problem on drag routes, he's got smooth speed. He ran a 4.34 forty yard dash. He has very strong value on special teams and was a team captain for Florida as well.
Round 4, #120 Overall - TE Gunnar Helm / Texas
  • This pick was mildly surprising to me at the time since the Titans have two pretty decent tight ends already in Josh Whyle and Chig Okonkwo. But I suppose Mike Borgonzi the new GM feels that TE was the right choice, and watching Gunnar play I don't blame Borgonzi. Helm looks pretty excellent overall, the dude is huge but his feet are swift and he has excellent body control. If you can hit big on a tight end, it can surely pay off big time. It will be interesting to see how this TE room shakes out! Love the competition.
Round 4, #136 Overall - WR Elic Ayomanor / Stanford
  • This selection appears to be another very high value pick which is tremendous! Elic was expected by many to have been drafted higher but for whatever reason, Elic fell into the Titans lap. Elic looks like a strong physical receiver, almost reminiscent of A.J. Brown dare I say? In the 2023-24 season Elic COOKED Colorado for 294 yards, 13 receptions AND 3 touchdowns. A Colorado team that happened to feature Travis Hunter on defense of course. Oh by the way, Hunter was just drafted by Jacksonville #2 overall. THAT could be fun matchup for the next couple of years.
Round 5, #167 Overall - Guard Jackson Slater / Sacramento State
  • After adding three straight weapons for Cam Ward, the Titans look to protect him with Jackson Slater's help. Slater can also play center at a competent degree so that versatility is absolutely a major plus.
Round 6, #183 Overall - CB Marcus Harris / California
  • Can't have enough corners in this league, and Marcus looks fast enough and physical enough to hold his own.
Round 6, #188 Overall - RB Kalel Mullings / Michigan
  • Kalel was indeed named after Superman! Always love to see a running back selection as a Titans fan. I low-key am glad the Titans picked up a back like Mullings. Mullings is a bigger, more powerful type of runner and since the Titans two main backs are on the slightly smaller quicker side of things I think adding Mullings was wise. Mullings is listed at 6'2" 226 pounds and used to play linebacker. So yeah, he's not exactly shying away from contact I don't think.

The Titans also added WR Xavier Restrepo as an undrafted free agent. Restrepo had an excellent season at Miami with Cam Ward in 2024! Restrepo is a scrappy slot receiver. Hopefully Ward and Restrepo can recreate their magic from Miami and bring it to Nashville! Cool to see the Titans giving that connection a shot!

Nine players selected in six rounds, I'd say that's some good value! Lets hope this is a legendary draft class, got to try and set Cam Ward up the best they can, and I honestly think they did a great job. They added weapons in a big way in this draft, as well as slick additions like Restrepo and signing veteran WR Tyler Lockett.

Hopefully this is the last time in a long time the Titans draft this high!

The schedule gets released May 14th! It's mostly baseball season as of now but, I'd like to put out some more Titans content slowly here and there, especially with all the new changes! We'll see!

But for now I leave with some more old Madden games and a...
