Titans at Texans Preview - Week 12
Ah yes, late November and it's been a rough rough season so far for the 2-8 Titans. At least when expectations are this low, a possible shocking win will feel outstanding. If the Titans were to win against the powerhouse of a team the division rival Texans have become later this afternoon, that would be an outstanding accomplishment for this year's squad considering how this season has been going. I'd probably die of shock and joy. It would be Levis's first win of the year, and what a win it could be. Also, if the Titans were to win out the next seven games, the Titans would have a winning record and possibly a playoff berth LOL. That type of run would bring me to life. That's the optimistic view point but I doubt either of those things happen.
Second year quarterback Will Levis has looked mildly improved recently but for me to get on board a lot more seriously, I'd like him to be exponentially better in the next several games. His recent improvement is something many fans expected at an earlier point in this season. Levis actually looked like a better QB last season as a rookie. Maybe dealing with a new coaching staff, offense and roster was something we should have taken more into consideration but the drop off in skill seemed pretty large, and frankly still does. But in a perfect world, if Levis continues to get legitimately BETTER each game, Levis COULD be pretty good.... A lot of speculation and what ifs from an optimistic fan I am afraid. I'd also like to see a FEW wins with Levis leading the way. We'll see.
I am looking at these Titans games in an entirely different way though. Let's see what players are worth keeping going forward. Rookies Latham, Sweat, and Brownlee Jr have looked very solid. I don't hate keeping head coach Brian Callahan on, taking everything into account I think he is pretty average. Even if the organization doesn't like him that much, I think a little bit of stability will be good for now. Also, it is Callahan's first season ever as an NFL head coach so, I think he's worth saving and maybe he will get better in time.
The team just feels like a giant experiment at this point. There's a FEW gems here and there on the team, but it's heavily under construction and heavily in need of talent. It's just going to take some patience unfortunately.
Anyway, yeah the Texans and C.J. Stroud are going to look to take the Titans heads off today. Let's see if the Titans have learned anything throughout this season. This will be interesting. Divisional games can be strange and the Titans feel like wounded animals right now. I think even fans who want to see the Titans tank, would love to see the Titans shock the Texans. A third win shouldn't hurt too bad in the draft order.
I'm looking forward to the boys playing no matter what. Only seven more games of the season until the long off-season. I intend on enjoying these Titans games no matter the cricumstances!
