While the N.L. East is heating up a little bit, the Phillies stayed semi comfortable atop the division with a super dominant win over the Royals yesterday. The bats were just on fire. They provided a surplus of run support for the returning Ranger Suarez.

The Phillies totaled a pretty insane 18 hits yesterday evening. FIVE players had multi hit games.

The player of the game was BY FAR, J.T. Realmuto. J.T. has been extremely average lately and he also only came back from injury fairly recently. Last night J.T. said, hold my beer I am BACK. The man crushed TWO three-run bombs and topped the night off with his seventh R.B.I. on a sacrifice hit to reach a career high for R.B.I.s in a single game.

There was also a Bryson Stott sighting as he went 4-4. It's great to see some other guys contribute during this rougher patch the Phils have been in. Alec Bohm for example did not have any success at the plate, but he's been killing it all year. Nice to see some other guys helping out finally!

Suarez had a quality outing too after not pitching for weeks. He went five and struck out six, only allowing one run.

A really needed solid victory for the Phillies! The Braves have been winning and so, it's nice to keep the rival at bay. The lead in the N.L. East is currently five for the Phils. Braves are currently losing 1-0 to the Nats.

Today the Phillies look to flex their depth as they call up Kolby Allard from AAA Lehigh Valley to make a start. Allard has had a handful of good outings this season. After Suarez returns yesterday and Allard today, hopefully the Phillies can benefit from resting some of their main starters.

It's going to be a fairly hot one in Kansas City as it was yesterday. basically in the mid-90's for this afternoon game.

Unexpectedly big sports day this Sunday afternoon in late August!!
