Phillies take the first game of the Mets series yesterday in dominant fashion!
Ok, so I'm back with a more substantial post after my pitiful one yesterday. I don't intend on making posts like yesterday a habit, but I wanted to throw something out there because this is such a big series!
Anyway, yesterday was a pretty exciting game that the Phils won mostly easily 10-2. It was a tight game for about six innings. It was 2-2 until the Phillies absolutely went off for six runs in the seventh inning. They batted around the entire lineup and it was really some of the best baseball I've seen the Phils play in 2025. It was seriously impressive! Bryson Stott came through again with a huge double with the bases loaded! Everyone on base scored on that play, and what made that play more exciting was the fact that Castellanos and Realmuto scored in the most James Bond-y fashion! Realmuto was right on Castellanos's heels as they rounded third into home, they scored in like .1 seconds of each other! If the Mets' throw home was a second quicker they could have gotten one of them out if not both of them! Luckily the timing was on the Phillies' side! Just a super thrilling play! In the chaos of the moment, Stott headed to third. Just such an awesome unforgettable play against one of the Phillies biggest rivals! Beautiful!
Wheeler had an ok game, struck out a lot of batters but he did need a lot of pitches to get through five innings. He did a good enough job though! Especially with that offense! Really just can't say enough about how well yesterday went! The win put the Phillies finally back into first place in the NL East!
The Phillies have been rolling recently, and it feels like they have a ton of momentum. I hope this success allows Harper to just keep resting that injured wrist of his. No rush for him at this point!
The Mets are a good team and are gonna come in hot but these guys feel unstoppable right now. That slump feels like ancient history at the moment. Game starts in about forty minutes or so.
