Phillies take care of the Marlins with ease yesterday | Jesús Luzardo to start vs former team
The Phillies took down the Marlins with zero difficulty yesterday. Trea Turner continues to play excellent baseball as he went 4 for 5 at the plate. Max Kepler who has had a pretty rough year offensively, had a decent night and homered for the 15th time. Other Phillies went yard as Harrison Bader also hit his 15th, Bryson Stott hit his 10th and Brandon Marsh hit his 9th! Definitely a powerful display by the Phillies in general! The squad had 16 hits in total. Speaking of homers though, Kyle Schwarber still hasn't hit his 50th homer yet unfortunately. I'm sure it will happen but it seems less likely he'll break Ryan Howard's franchise record of 58.
The Mets managed to barely hold on against the Reds yesterday. The Reds had the bases loaded with zero outs but couldn't drive in the tying or winning run and ultimately lost. Ugh.
The Phillies are still six games ahead of the Mets and I'd barely consider mentioning the Mets at this point but since the Phillies still have four games against the Mets and have struggled against them, anything is possible. But still, I'm mostly confident the Phils will take the division.
The Phillies are four games ahead of the Dodgers for the second seed which is great! It gives the Phillies a bye and a solid home field advantage unless they play the one seed obviously.
So yes, go Phillies and go Reds! Luzardo seeks win #13 today and another series victory for the Phillies.
