Phillies sweep Padres after 6-4 win yesterday | White Sox in town tonight with Jesús Luzardo on the mound
Well today's post is going to be a bit rushed purely because I'm finally finishing a project that's really important to me that's basically years in the making and it's on a bit of a timetable here but hey, life is about quests sometimes ya know. Gotta push yourself and get comfortable being uncomfortable sometimes.
The Phillies secured the sweep of the Padres not only in this particular series but they swept the Padres 6-0 for 2026. This is only the fourth time the Phillies have swept a team, that they had two series against of course, in one season in franchise history, pretty wild.
Zack Wheeler was excellent on the mound, and was creeping towards a no-hitter for a bit. His attempt lasted 5 1/3 innings but he still had a nice outing.
The MLB All-Star Game is going to be in Philadelphia this season, it would be really awesome if both Zack Wheeler and Cristopher Sánchez could pitch in that together.
The Phillies offense finally broke through a bit and scored 5 or more runs for the first time in a long time in the 6-4 win. They recorded 10 hits as a team and Adolis García hit his fifth homer which was great. Only one player in the lineup didn't record a hit, and five different Phillies recorded an RBI.
Jesús Luzardo has stacked some solid outings together lately which makes me glad. Hopefully he can try to follow in Cristopher Sánchez and Zack Wheeler's footsteps tonight!
The Phillies are now 33-29, and set to face the Chicago White Sox who are looking a lot better in 2026. They also have a 33-29 record! The White Sox had 60 wins all last season so, it must be pretty exciting times for their fans!
