Yesterday was just a magical night at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies smashed their way into the clinching the #2 seed in the National League in historical fashion. They hit a Phillies franchise record EIGHT home runs on their way to destroying the Marlins 11-1.

Edmundo Sosa recorded his first multi-home run game! Not only was it his first game with two homers, but Edmundo actually hit THREE bombs last night. To make the game more memorable for Sosa, the homers also put him at double digits for homers in a season, a feat he's now accomplished for the second time. He entered yesterday with seven homers, then he left the night with ten. Overall just a great game that boosts Edmundo's legacy in so many ways! The great individual achievement, in late September to clinch the #2 seed. Edmundo has now played with the Phillies more than he's played for any other team, I hope he stays a Phillie for awhile!

Kyle Schwarber also enhanced his legacy in a few ways. He hit two homers himself last night! The pair of dingers puts him at 56 on the season! I thought that him catching Ryan Howard was gonna be hard but now it feels very possible. Crazy how outlooks change in one night. It will still be hard for Schwarber, because in order to break the Ryan's Phillies record of 58 he'll have to hit three homers in four games. Schwarber CAN do it of course it just won't be that easy and who knows if the Phillies will rest him at any point.

If Schwarber can get to 60 bombs that would be amazing for him personally, it'd break the Phillies single season record, and of course he'd be the first Phillie to ever hit 60 in a year. It would simply be cool for the franchise. Before this season, Schwarber's career high in homers was 47, and he did so with the Phillies in 2023. Schwarber also smashed his career high in RBIs in 2025. Schwarber currently has 132 and that leads the MLB!

Joining Edmundo and Kyle, Alec Bohm hit his 11th, Bryson Stott hit his 13th, and Otto Kemp hit his his 8th to put the team at eight taters for the evening.

On the mound, Jesús Luzardo got win number 15 on the season! Against his former team to secure the #2 seed, brilliant. The win somehow did not eliminate the Marlins but still made it much much more difficult than it already was. A really excellent outing by Luzardo!

Walker Buehler gets the start tonight for the Phillies, it will be good to continue to keep Walker warm and to evaluate what he has to offer the Phils as they enter the postseason.

Should be a fun one, the Phils can take the series with a win! With the Phillies having clinched as high as they'll probably get I'm curious to see how the team plays the last few games. I imagine it would not be wise to bench a lot of guys since they'll have the bye to rest and you don't want to over rest guys. But I wouldn't be shocked to see a lighter amount of work for certain players.

Only four more to go, where did the time go...
