Phillies set to play a doubleheader vs the Cardinals Wednesday + A.D. Hammer RTTS Part 50
The Phillies accomplished their mission on Sunday as they defeated the Guardians 3-0 to win their fifth consecutive series. Zack Wheeler tossed a gem as he pitched seven innings, threw eight strikeouts and most importantly allowed ZERO runs. Offensively though Kyle Schwarber put the team on his back as he hit TWO home runs and drove in all three of the Phillies' runs. I hope the Phillies find a way to re-sign Schwarber as soon as possible.
On Monday the Phillies didn't begin their series too hot as they ran into the red hot St. Louis Cardinals who entered the contest on an impressive eight game winning streak. The Phils lost the mostly uneventful game 3-2. Schwarber did extend his on-base streak to 47 games though.
It's been rain, rain, rain all across the state of Pennsylvania the past few days and Tuesday's game was postponed to Wednesday which has become a doubleheader. So the Phillies and Cardinals both will have their streaks tested in a unique way! Citizens Bank Park is going to be fun, wish I was there!
Jesús Luzardo will pitch the 1:15 game and Aaron Nola will pitch the 6:15 game.
Stinks I'll have to be at work for a fun day like this but, I should catch most of the action. My boss likes the Phillies anyway.
Would be a cool statement by the Phillies to sweep the Cardinals twice in a day in Philadelphia!
