The Phillies captured their first sweep of 2025 after defeating the Rockies 3-1 yesterday! It has been just an absolute treat so far watching this team. Taijuan Walker surprised me big time with a pretty excellent performance on the mound. He threw six very clean innings allowing zero runs! If he can return to his old self after a really poor 2024, the Phillies could be in serious business in 2025. He did face the Rockies, who aren't exactly projected to be a very good team, but this is a good start for Walker and I'm not complaining! The Phillies are now 5-1.

The Phillies are clicking but of course it is an incredibly long season. Tonight, the Phillies are being put to a big test as they will be facing the 2024 World Series Champions Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are showing no signs of slowing down either as they've started 2025 sizzling hot with an utterly dominant 8-0 record. Yikes.

The Dodgers may be great, but the Phillies have all the potential in the world to best them. If the Phillies want to be champions they must assert themselves and not be intimidated. If the Phillies can hand the Dodgers their first loss of 2025, that would just feel terrific and definitely send a slight message even though it's super early in the season.

Jesús Luzardo will do the honors of pitching against the defending champs. Luzardo can really earn the Phillies' fans respect by pitching a gem today! I may go as far as to say he'd be a mini legend if he can actually dominate this elite lineup.

The Phillies will be facing a legend in pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He's only 26 and already is an insanely decorated as an athlete. He dominated in Japan winning countless awards and has been a winner at every level he's played. If he retired tomorrow, I can't say he'd be remembered as like an all-time great, but he'd definitely be remembered that's for sure. He's already had an unforgettable impact on baseball I'd say.

Of course the Dodgers are filled with stars everywhere you look so, today is BIG. This Phillies team had a World Series appearance a few years ago but, they have regressed in terms of playoff success since then and so, as high as I am on this team, I really hope to see the Phillies look good today. Many players on this Phillies roster are on the final years of their contracts or are even on one years deals. Of course age is a constant subject in all pro sports so yeah. However you want to look at it, today is massive.

I am going to be super locked in today! Even though I want the Phils to win, I am still simply going to enjoy it. Two dominant teams, east coast vs west coast. Rare times! Let's go!!
