Wow, yesterday was a fun time for Philadelphia sports. Phillies won, Sixers won, even the Flyers won!

For the Phillies, they got a very satisfactory, much less stressful victory than the game prior. They jumped all over former Phillies pitcher Michael Lorenzen in the very first inning and scored a fat seven runs. BAM, that was fun stuff! Michael Lorenzen also pitched, and pitched very well, for Team Italy against Team USA in the World Baseball Classic a few weeks ago, a game Team Italy ended up winning. So it was nice to see Lorenzen get smacked around, I'm not gonna lie. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber played for Team USA so I'm happy for them too.

But yes yesterday was a breeze for the Phils. The offense is waking up a bit now that's for sure. Brandon Marsh is playing excellent for the Phillies at the moment! He's got a .320 batting average, 1 homer, and 5 RBI. He hit his first homer of the year yesterday, a three-run shot, and it was a 454-foot bomb! If Marsh can exceed expectations and have a career year, that would be amazing for this team. Kyle Schwarber responded with a 460-foot Schwarbomb of his own! Mile High's elevation is helping the balls travel I'm sure but it's still very enjoyable to see. Trea Turner had a great day at the plate too, going 3 for 4.

Aaron Nola had a good outing which is a decent sign although having a gigantic lead definitely helps. Hopefully 2026 is a bounce back year for him, time will tell.

Jesús Luzardo looks to bounce back after a rough season debut vs the Rangers. I'm confident he can but the Rockies will be looking to not get embarrassed twice in a row! The Phillies already ruined their home opener yesterday. The Phillies will be facing Brennan Bernardino whose typically used as a relief pitcher so unless the Rockies are trying him out in a different role, I imagine it will be a bullpen game for them.

Let's keep it rolling! The Rockies won 43 games last season so hopefully the Phils can go for a sweep, but one game at a time! It's a new year!
