Phillies lose on a walk-off inside the park home run in San Fran last night... BRUTAL
The last time the Phillies won a series in San Francisco, Obama was the President. Let that sink in....
Last night was brutal. Baseball is funny like that. Everything can seem so calm and unassuming, and all of a sudden BAM chaos ensues. The Phillies seemed to have a win in the bag last night with a 3-1 lead until the bottom of the ninth happened. Jordan Romano was pretty much forced into trying to get a five out save and well, it didn't work out so well. He was facing Patrick Bailey who is notoriously known to not be that great of a hitter, his specialty is being a very good defensive catcher. But last night Bailey came through in a pretty legendary way. Bailey hit a BOMB that would have been a homer in many stadiums but the ball hit the perfect angle on top of the outfield wall and the ball ricocheted in the most diabolical fashion to where nobody in the outfield could get to the ball fast enough until Bailey rounded all the bases. Truly wild circumstances, not sure I have ever seen something like that at the MLB level.
The Phillies bullpen has been the topic of much discussion after this. The Phillies really don't have many options there though. I really don't wanna see Romano closing ever again at this point. That José Alvarado suspension is really tough right now.
One cool thing that happened for the Phillies is Schwarber hit a homer into McCovey Cove which is always fun. That stadium is so cool. Also, Taijuan Walker had a nice outing which was good to see.
Luzardo is on the mound today to try and help the Phils avoid a sweep. He's been shaky so hopefully that turns around. Harper has been quiet at the plate would be nice to see him get some hits going.
Let's get it done and not get swept!
