Phillies get WHOOPED by the Mets 11-3 | Game two this afternoon

The Mets made a pretty big statement last night in Philly. I just hope the Phillies respect that and bring their A game today!

Aaron Nola got cooked last night, deep fried. Two three-run homers given up in the fifth inning alone. Crazy. Killed all the vibes at Citizens Bank Park. Apparently Nola is 10-18 in September. The man has to lock in if we want to get this Championship! The Mets come in to this series just as hot as the Phillies, if not hotter since the Mets have had a pretty tough climb this season.

The Phillies got whooped so bad that I need to take a look at the standings now. The Phillies have a seven game lead over the Mets in the NL East. The Braves are eight back. The Phillies have fifteen games left in their season, six of which are against the freaking pesky Mets!!

The math checks out, if the Phillies don't play with a bit of urgency, crap could hit the fan real quick.

Still, I would rather be the Phillies right now. The pressure still is ultimately on the Mets. Phillies have to just know who they are and lock in.

I was maybe getting cocky about the Phillies and how the NL East is a lock, the Mets are here and they are shooting their shot. They got some players now!

Today, the Phillies will be swinging against New York's Luis Severino for the first time this season. Luis is a solid veteran pitcher seeking his 11th win. Phillies send out Kolby Allard to the mound. Allard is having one of his better seasons as a pro and has had some quality outings since late July. Allard is still only 27 so it's not impossible to envision him still going on to have a successful career.

This series is getting a bit more serious. I think they respond in a big way today and have Philly fans reasons to celebrate in the city this Saturday night!

GO PHILS
