Phillies continue to struggle, look to break losing streak tonight in Chicago
It's been a hectic couple days for me personally, busy busy busy. The Phillies had an off day and then a rain delay yesterday, the NFL Draft has been on too. All in all I've missed a few days writing about the Phillies and well, it hasn't been very pretty for the Fightins.
They got swept by the Mets on Wednesday in a pretty dramatic game that went to extras. Phillies actually took the lead in the tenth but the Mets simply didn't go away and won on a walk-off hit. Tough to see.
Yesterday was essentially a bullpen game from a pitching standpoint for the Phillies in their series opener against the Cubs. All in all it wasn't bad and the combined efforts of Taijuan Walker, Tanner Banks, Jose Ruiz, Carlos Hernandez and Orion Kerkering only allowed four runs which feels rather manageable in these circumstances. But the offense just didn't show up in the 4-0 loss.
Tonight hopefully Jesus Luzardo can save the day for the Phillies and help the team get a W. Luzardo has arguably been the most consistent pitcher overall through the first month of 2025 for Philadelphia.
Let's see how these next two games play out in The Windy City.
