Phillies bounce back in a big way against Cleveland | Team looks to win 5th series in a row tonight + A.D. Hammer RTTS Part 49
Yesterday was a mildly suspenseful, yet ultimately a very satisfying game to watch as a Phillies fan. Ranger Suárez threw an absolute gem of a game from the hill. After such a bad first start from Ranger a week ago, and Aaron Nola looking a bit shaky to start 2025, yesterday's performance by Ranger was a breath of fresh air. Ranger was dominant all game long against a good Guardians team and he ultimately went a full seven innings allowing only three hits and a glorious zero runs!
The suspenseful part about yesterday came from the offense. For seven innings the Phillies only gave Ranger a 1-0 cushion. It was worrying that the Phils might waste such an excellent night of pitching. But then in the top of the eighth with TWO outs the Phillies scored six runs, starting with a Bryce harper two-run bomb. That helped blow the game wide open. It was really a satisfying game like I mentioned earlier because the Phillies not only won the highly contested pitching matchup last night thanks to Ranger, but they ultimately smoked the Guardians offensively as well and secured a dominant 7-1 victory.
So yeah the Phillies continue to roll. Kyle Schwarber has a 45-game on-base streak (tied for fourth all-time in Phillies' history), Trea Tuner has a 9 game hitting streak, and really the whole lineup has been producing.
Tonight the Phillies look to secure their fifth straight series victory which would be pretty great. Zack Wheeler is on the mound tonight and I know he's excited about the chance to help continue the team's streak and get himself his fourth victory of 2025.
