My two favorite MLB teams are set to compete! A's at Phillies tonight! | Cristopher Sánchez (PHI) and Luis Severino (ATH) on the mound
I know it may be odd to some, but I like both the Phillies and A's. Becoming a fan of two MLB teams is a somewhat long story that I've written on a few times and I've just accepted it. I thought it was as odd as anyone to have two teams, I've always believed you should stick with one team. But meh, it's just sports at the end of the day, all for fun. What's fun for me is liking both of these franchises!
The Phillies and A's are on opposite coasts of the US, and play in different leagues. So it's really interesting following both teams. They don't face each other much and slowly but surely I'm learning more about the rosters across the MLB.
Basically the results of this game are a win-win for me really. I'm ultimately neutral when it comes to the results of this series. But its still good to follow the rosters and results of course.
It will be interesting watching these teams compete as a fan of both teams and knowing the rosters fairly well in general. I am embracing it and looking forward to it! It's a really unique feeling being a genuine fan of both teams.
The last time I wrote on the A's before their off day, they were struggling with the Guardians and were looking to not get swept. Well, they accomplished exactly that with a pretty dominant win Sunday. Aaron Civale looked great on the mound, going six innings and allowing just a single run. He's now 3-1 with a strong 2.94 ERA. I hope he stays consistent! Three A's homered as well. Colby Thomas hit his first, Zack Gelof hit his second, and Tyler Sodestrom hit his fourth. Those were all solo shots. Jeff McNeil joined the offensive action with a massive double with the bases loaded that cleared the bases! 3 RBI for Mr. McNeil there.
Yesterday, the Phillies won their game and their series against the Marlins. Aaron Nola had a great quality outing! He pitched six scoreless innings. Now that was great to see, can't recall the last time he pitched that well. Nola was really the MVP of that game because the Phillies only managed to win 1-0! Let's see if Nola can sustain this a bit more. The sole run by the Phillies came off of Bryce Harper's bat as he hit his 7th homer of the season. Nola and Harper coming up big when you need them. Good on the vets, the long-time Phillies!
Tonight these two teams meet and man, it will be intriguing to see how Cristopher Sánchez handles this explosive A's offense. Luis Severino has been steady lately, lets see if he can handle this Phillies team that needs every win they can get.
I just hope it's a good game really! I hope there isn't a sweep.
