Mason Rudolph seems set to be QB2 for the 2024 Titans - NFL Preseason Week 2

It was another pretty fun Preseason game for the Titans. I really missed this sport.

Malik Willis played mostly underwhelming football. He was fine. Just like, a much less polished Tyrod Taylor out there. I think that's the best description I can give.

It seems that QB2 for the Titans is going to be former Steeler Mason Rudolph, and frankly I am not mad about it. I'm surprised I didn't mention Rudolph more until now. Rudolph feels like a pretty awesome backup option. He just feels like a perfect backup NFL QB. Rudolph is a competent player with good skill and natural feel for the game. Fairly average to below average in many categories, but seems to have nice awareness and decent arm strength. Rudolph comes from Pittsburgh and he's seen it all in the AFC North. From, battling up and down the depth chart, to getting smacked with helmets, to winning a respectable amount of games, Rudolph has certainly seen a lot in his six seasons as a pro.

Rudolph actually started and won three games for the Steelers down the stretch in 2023 and helped get them in the playoffs. Overall, Rudolph's record as a starter is 8-4-1. The guy is seasoned and definitely adds a decent feeling of security.

Rudolph was more efficient than Willis statistically against Seattle and just looked way more comfortable in general.

There was a lot of intrigue elsewhere on the team as well. Titans mini legend/fan favorite in wide receiver Mason Kinsey shows he's got skills and could be useful as a receiver or punt returner. Kearis Jackson and Jha'Quan Jackson have made some plays as receivers and returners as well. Will be intriguing to see how it shakes out deep on the WR depth chart there.

Linebacker Chance Campbell has continued to make plays.

Rookie kicker Brayden Narveson really made a name for himself off the bat and it's pretty exciting. Would be epic if the Titans culd have a reliable kicker for the next decade. Nick Folk is nice, but he won't be kicking much longer.

Brayden hit all three field goals, but more importantly he hit a 59 yard BOMB and then later in the game he hits the dang game winner from 46 yards out, amazing!!

All in all a solid preseason game with fun moments. Pretty much zero starters played in the game but it was fun to see how the guys deeper on the depth chart compete.

Even if it's preseason, 2-0 feels pretty great. Saints on Sunday and it's on to the next!!!
