Jeffrey Springs tosses an absolute gem in a 2-1 victory over Rangers | A's 1-1 in four game series vs Rangers
Jeffrey Springs was in total control yesterday for the A's. It was really beautiful, really dominant. He went 6 1/3 innings allowing just one run and just three hits! It was really needed too as the A's offense wasn't exactly rolling themselves either. They only scored two runs and for pretty much six innings the game was 2-1, so Springs was absolutely crucial. The bullpen also deserves some credit as well. After the A's gave up 8 runs the day prior, this was awesome.
But for Springs, as far as I can tell, he's starting 2026 on track for a career season. He has had success at times in his career, in 2022 with the Rays he went 9-5, and last year with the A's he was 11-11. He does also have a good career 3.53 ERA. This season he's 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA and an absurd 0.770 WHIP so far through four starts. It's a bit early but to have a great season, you gotta start great! I'm looking forward to watching him continue to perform in 2026.
Also I do want to point out that as sluggish as the A's offense was, they were tricky at the plate. They only recorded four hits but did draw eight walks which isn't bad. It definitely kept some pressure on the Rangers.
So it's 1-1 in this four game series over the AL West rival. It's early but a four game series against a divisional opponent is always crucial.
It looks like the A's are sending J.T. Ginn to the mound tonight, it looks like he's typically a relief pitcher so I'm guessing that tonight is a bullpen game? I'm still learning the roster a bit so we will have to see.
The A's are 9-8 looking to extend their lead in the AL West and increase their winning record!
