Cards From My Personal Collection: Felix Hernandez 2004 Topps Gold Border Rookie Baseball Card
Now THIS card aged well. Just another reason card collecting is awesome. Felix is a legend and this is apparently #54 out of 2004 to represent the year this card was released. Pretty epic!
I'm pretty sure this is a rookie card. Felix didn't actually appear in the big leagues until 2005 at just 19 years old.
Felix Hernandez had a pretty elite career as a starting pitcher but he was victim to playing on a lot of poor Mariners teams throughout his career so his win totals are not quite as excellent as some other elite pitchers. What Felix does have is a fantastic career ERA of 3.42 as proof of just how good he was.
Felix won the Cy Young Award in 2010 with just a 13-12 record but a 2.27 ERA! In fact, from 2009-2015 Felix was a threat to win the Cy Young, consistently getting a lot of votes in that time. Felix was also a 6x All-Star.
Felix ALSO threw the 23rd perfect game in MLB history in 2012! Just incredible, what a beast. I am extremely glad to own this guy's rookie card, he just might make the Hall of Fame!
His last MLB game came in 2019 and he's officially retired. He finished with a 169-136 record.
Felix's perfect game!
