Cards From My Personal Collection: Jorge Posada 2003 Topps Baseball Card

Pretty great shot of Posada doing his catcher duties.

Jorge Posada was a really great catcher for the New Yankees from 1995-2011. He's another player I watched a lot when I first began watching baseball up in Connecticut that one special summer in 2003.

Posada was the catcher on the Yankees throughout the Derek Jeter era. Posada was a valuable, reliable player throughout those seasons. He was a minor piece of the Yankees in 1996 but still received a World Series Championship ring.

Starting in 1997 though, Posada's role increased significantly and then in 1998 he was pretty much the full blown catcher and it would stay that way until 2010. In 2011, Posada was a designated hitter.

Posada played in 1,829 games for the Yankees. He was a 4, sort of 5x World Series Champion. He was also a 5x All-Star, a 5x Silver Slugger and his number 20 was retired by the Yankees.

He retired after the 2011 season with 1,664 hits, 275 home runs, 1,065 RBIs, and a .273 batting average.
