Cam Skattebo is, through sheer force of will, reminding everyone what real football is.

For non-Americans yes, this is football in America. I'm so sorry that another country happens to use the precious name. Guess what though? It's a word. I don't feel the need to constantly call it American football.

The term soccer did originate in the United Kingdom somewhere for what it's worth. Why do we call it football? I'm not one hundred percent sure. In football there ARE kicks, and punts. The ball used is about the size of a foot, kinda, and players are using their feet to ya know RUN. It's not the perfect name I guess technically speaking. But millions and millions of people in America have called this sport football for generations now and I'm going to go ahead and keep calling this sport football.

Anyway yeah, with my Titans being an absolute joke of a team in this season so far watching the emergence of Cam Skattebo has been absolutely thrilling.

Cam Skattebo is playing football, and more specifically running back, in the purest way in my opinion. Cam is reminding everyone that football is indeed a combat sport. It is a FIGHT. Cam is making football great again.

The man is just launching dudes, it's incredible.

Cam runs and seeks contact. He wants to take souls, he wants to run through a dude's face. He's reminding everyone that playing running back is not to be a glorified track star with pads on. A running back is supposed to be a pivotal, crucial weapon.

Health, health, health. Don't hit anyone's head they say! Ok bro, look I'm not excited to see dudes get wrecked either but nobody is forcing anyone on the field. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch the game either. Football is not a cute dainty sport. IT NEVER WAS.

I don't have the perfect answer for the sport and head injuries. But apologizing 24/7 about how mean the sport can be is just tiresome. Life is full of risk, life is full of danger. But I know one thing, football is not going anywhere, and good luck transitioning the sport into essentially an ultimate frisbee game with the lame 'flag football' movement that makes me want to throw up.

I'm not a health expert so feel free to roll your eyes or whatever but is every single person at the same risk for head injuries? Is every single human body the same? Can someone be genetically adapted to perhaps absorbing punishment more than others? Is this really so out of the question? Is every single person ever that plays football going to get CTE or CTE as severely as the next guy? Do I not see many analysts growing old still talking about the game with intelligence? Can some people who commit horrible acts after they retire from the sport just be bad people or jerks or whatever?

Cam Skattebo looks like he was absolutely born to play football. He looks like he's actually in his element. People say 'he's gonna have the craziest three years' sarcastically due to his gritty play style suggesting he'll become too riddled with injury. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. Eddie George, Emmitt Smith, and Marshawn Lynch just to name a few, played the game pretty roughly and they played well more than three years.

Cam's style reminds me that football did exist before 2011 when running backs actually were to be feared, actually set the tone, actually were bullies and not just delicate flowers.

I almost forgot running backs were ALLOWED to dish out punishment before Skattebo's recent rise. I'm surprised the refs aren't throwing flags for unnecessary roughness every single time he touches the ball.

Cam's only been doing this for a few weeks so far and he does have a long way to go but the potential he has to bring real football back genuinely warms my heart. He's already become a legend in a small way, especially considering his college career where he was doing exactly what he's doing now.

In football, there is an element of taking pain, there is an element of discovering who can handle punishment, discovering who can be more durable. That should absolutely matter.

These guys get paid millions. People get hurt nearly as bad in various ways in life for pennies. There's so many risky, dangerous jobs in life and most people won't make in their whole life, what many NFL players make in a year, or a few years or whatever.

I'm here for Cam in every way. This guy is an animal, primal. I love it. I'll watch this guy play more than a scat back throwing 18 jukes for a -2 yard gain any day of the week.

The dude is also a freak athlete, not just a bowling ball that sacrifices his body. Well, he is a bowling ball but the fact he can pull this off says a lot in my opinion.

he's a beast that's for sure. The Giants are fun to watch again!

I agree with this. I think that if you are in a position where head injury is possible, one of the best things that can happen is that everyone gets paid millions of dollars to be there. I know a few people that work in full-compression diving working for oil companies, and almost all of those guys end up with job-related health issues and are compensated very well - although nowhere near as much as football players - in part because this job is very hazardous. Nobody really talks about that though :)

That's a good perspective for sure. It's definitely pretty interesting how people cherry pick certain things to fuss about.
