The A's lost 4-1 yesterday and it was pretty tough. But despite the loss and low-scoring final score, this game was pretty entertaining. It had some great defense, great pitching, and a lot of suspense.

The A's pitching was really solid yesterday. While I couldn't figure out who was going to pitch prior to yesterday's game it turns out Aaron Civale was the man. He got through five scoreless innings of work. The bullpen was largely decent until the tenth inning when Justin Sterner gave up a three run shot to Bobby Witt Jr.

The A's managed to have bases loaded in the eighth before Witt's homer, and then in the bottom of the tenth afterwards but ultimately they could not match the Royals last night.

The A's were right there, and their competitiveness continues to shine. I mentioned good defense yesterday and here's what I meant:

Colby Thomas tracks this ball down like a safety tracking down a receiver in football! It was just Colby's second game of 2026. I find this curious as I learn more about this roster. I wonder what his role is and why he played yesterday or why he hasn't played much I guess. He played in 49 games last season and is just 25 years old.

Nick Kurtz is entering Barry Bonds territory as he has now walked in 17 straight games!

With the Phillies being off and all of their shenanigans, and the Sixers staying alive (post coming shortly) and all of their own shenanigans, it will be nice to settle in and simply enjoy the A's game tonight. Keep track of the basketball playoffs in the background. My understanding of this current A's team is improving, but I still have a ways to go.

Luis Severino looks to stack consecutive good starts tonight against the Royals and help the A's avoid a drop to .500.

Should be a chill night hiding from the rain on the east coast, watching the green and gold on the west coast!
