A's fail to secure sweep of Mariners Wednesday | Luis Severino on the mound to begin series vs Rangers
Ah man, the A's almost had it Wednesday. They sort of blew it, but it wasn't as if the lead was all that large to begin with. They jumped out to an early lead but couldn't quite hold the Mariners off. Nick Kurtz came up very clutch in the top of the ninth with a solo shot that tied the game and forced the Mariners to bat in the bottom of the ninth. That was exciting! Josh Naylor ended up walking it off with the game winning single unfortunately. The sweep was soooo close, that would have been awesome.
Cal Raleigh homered in each game of the series vs the A's, as did Munetaka Murakami in the series prior. Sheesh, hopefully the A's rotation can tone that down a bit. Another power hitter in Jake Burger of the Rangers also had a lot of success not too long ago against the A's, and the A's are set to face him all over again tonight down in Texas. In fact, Burger hit two homers against Luis Severino in the first game of that series, so hopefully Severino has a new approach against him on the mound tonight...
The A's are now barely over .500 at 13-12 which is respectable this early in the season and so far they seem to be a better team than they were a year ago.
The Rangers are also 13-12 though so this is a pretty big series in the AL West. These two teams went 2-2 against each other in their four game series only roughly a week and half ago. It was a well played, competitive series. This series is only three games though so no ties this time, there will be a distinct leader of the AL West by Sunday. Let's see how it goes. This is another early test to prove if the 2026 Athletics are indeed legit!

It's a super busy night for me as a sports fan. The NFL Draft continues for the NFL and my Titans, the Phillies play, the A's play, AND the Sixers are in the Playoffs...
But hey, life's good!
