Well, after a strong series vs the Angels, the A's couldn't replicate that success against the Padres as they've officially lost this series and have dropped to .500 once again. Despite all this mediocrity so far in 2026, the A's still cling to a 1.5 game lead in the AL West somehow. Pretty crazy. I don't expect that an 81-81 record will win this division though. But hey, the A's have completed 32% of their season now, maybe the AL West just stinks now LOL.

Friday the A's lost 7-3 and it was actually a bit closer than the score looks in my opinion, the Padres just were more consistent and slightly sharper. The A's took the lead first and then took another lead in the fourth. In the seventh it was actually a tied game but yeah, it just wasn't the A's day.

Yesterday's game was depressing. Not even simply because it was shutout, but because the A's actually more than doubled up the Padres as far as hits are concerned. The A's had five hits, the Padres had two, but the A's still managed to lose 2-0! J.T. Ginn followed up his near no-hitter by giving up SIX walks and a hit batter as he gave up two runs in 2 1/3 innings. The bullpen tried to save the day though as the Padres couldn't produce a thing the remainder of the game, the problem obviously was the A's couldn't either.

So the A's have lost two straight but, they had decent shots to win in both contests. Baseball can be a game of tactics and luck sometimes!

Luis Medina gets the start today in what is likely going to be a bullpen game.

Hopefully the A's can avoid the sweep with the Mariners coming to town tomorrow!
