Are the Kansas City Chiefs Destined for a Threepeat?
With the season fast approaching, and everyone's teams feeling very hopeful, I think it's time to perhaps address the elephant in the room.
Is this season simply a formality? Is this NFL season simply a race for second place?
It seems that, the very second Patrick Mahomes became the Chiefs starter in 2018, all eyes have been on Kansas City ever since. The guy changed the game. I could tell pretty quickly he was no fluke. When Mahomes stands in the pocket against your favorite team, you are NERVOUS. Fearful. It's really strange, in a complimentary way. He's an alien.
I am certain Mahomes would have dominated on pretty much any team he landed on. But landing in KC with two key people definitely helped speed up the whole process. Andy Reid is a tremendous coach and Travis Kelce already established himself as a great tight end before Mahomes ever took a snap.
It was the perfect storm and the trio has been carving up the NFL in a way that will already never be forgotten.
If you're not a fan of the Chiefs, it can get pretty discouraging at times. There's little signs they're going to be slowing down anytime soon.
The Bengals are the first logical, legit threat to the Chiefs, no doubt there. But the Chiefs have beaten them, and Burrow's injury history is absolutely a problem.
The Texans look primed, but I fear they may be overhyped.
The Eagles had a small window, but there's plenty of question marks surrounding them.
Can Caleb Williams be great enough as a rookie to make any type of noise?
The Rams are still rebuilding, the NFC in general doesn't really look to threatening in terms of taking down KC.
Perhaps a team will come out of nowhere.
Winning a Super Bowl three times in a row seems impossible, but it feels like the Chiefs really might do it.
While it is depressing to have such a dominant force in the league, taking down a team like the Chiefs, if it does happen, will be that much more epic. I'm glad Tom Brady got a ring over Mahomes. It adds so much depth to whatever happens next this season.
It will take a monumental effort to dethrone the Chiefs, I wonder what team will dare to be great and be unafraid?
Perhaps I am hyping this up, but I don't think I am. The Chiefs want a threepeat BAD. Mahomes is entering his prime. The sluggish offense of last season, surely will be better. Kelce wants to prove that he still has a little gas in the tank. Andy Reid may be older, but I don't think he's gone full Sleepy Joe quite yet.
If the Chiefs do win three in a row, not only will the trio have done what's never been done, but they will have won four in six seasons. Mahomes will have won FOUR before he's even 30 years old. The pace he's on and implications of this is ridiculous.
Big season coming up, who do you think can threaten the Chiefs?
